Peridontal Treatment
Periodontal treatment refers to the treatment of gum disease. Almost everyone will suffer from some form of gum disease whether it consists of slight bleeding whilst brushing or the loosening of teeth through gum erosion. Gum disease is a bacterial infection which affects the gums and bones that support the teeth. Treatment needs to be carried out at an early stage in order to prevent severe damage to the gums and teeth. Early symptoms consist of swelling and bleeding of the gums. Severe gum disease more often than not can be treated, however this is a more timely process. Brushing your teeth at least twice a day helps combat the bacteria that causes gum disease.
Endodontics
Endodontics is most commonly known as root canal treatment and is used in order to protect the dental pulp from further injury, disease and infection. Many factors such as deep fillings, cracks, gum disease and decay are believed to be the cause of injury to the pulp. This is because when the pulp is left exposed to bacteria it will cause an infection and become very painful and swollen. If not treated quickly it will lead to the destruction of the bone that supports the tooth. Treatment consists of the infected pulp and roots being cleaned and sealed and in most cases this can be successfully carried out in one visit.
Implants
Dental implants are used for the replacement of missing teeth. They are of similar shape to that of a screw and are inserted into the bone of your jaw to act as a support mechanism for the rest of the tooth. Implants are made from sterile titanium and are as strong as healthy teeth. They can be used to replace one or all of your teeth. If you had a single tooth missing it would be replaced with an implant and a crown, however, in cases where there is more than one tooth missing a combination of implants along with bridges and or crowns will be implemented.
